Collection: Sophie La Giraffe Collection

Sophie la giraffe still looks exactly the same today as when she was first made on May 25th 1961, Saint Sophie’s Day, hence her name.

She has an immediate success. Young parents recognised that she was a must for their baby, soothing sore gums when the first signs of teething appeared. By simple word of mouth, the little giraffe’s fame spread. Over the years, generations of children around the world have come to love her smile, her smell and her squeak whenever they've pressed her tummy or head!

To this day Sophie la giraffe is traditionally produced by VULLI, a company based in Rumilly in the Haute-Savoie region of France. She is made from 100% natural rubber derived from the latex of the Hevea tree.  Vulli first heats this latex using a special process involving a technique called “rotomoulding” and then performs a series of 14 manual operations.
